We at Faun by Moonlight are willing to publish difficult and challenging themes; however, we will not publish, nor consider, any works that depict graphic sexual content involving minors. Graphic depictions of extreme violence against minors or severe psychological abuse will also be immediately discarded.

Non-Fiction Submissions

We are now open to non-fiction submissions. Particularly, we are interested in receiving:

  • Essays: Personal, lyrical, or critical essays exploring unique perspectives.
  • Historical Pieces: Well-researched narratives, snapshots of specific eras, or deep dives into obscure events.

Payment for non-fiction is the same as our fiction rates.

Manuscript Requirements

  • Format: Standard manuscript format (double-spaced, 12-point Times New Roman or similar serif font, 1-inch margins)
  • Length: Up to 10,000 words
  • File Type: Microsoft Word (.docx) only
  • Simultaneous Submissions: Accepted (please notify us immediately if your work is accepted elsewhere)
  • Previously Published: Not accepted

Payment

We pay $20 for stories under 5,000 words, $50 for stories 5,000+ words, paid upon acceptance.

Cover Letter

Keep your cover letter brief. You may include a synopsis or brief introduction, but this is optional. We prefer to let the work speak for itself.

AI Policy

We accept submissions that have utilized AI tools for research or editing. However, works primarily generated by AI will not be considered. The creative voice must be authentically yours.

Email your manuscript as a .docx file. Include your story title, word count, and either your payment confirmation or issue purchase information in the email body.

Response Time

We aim to respond to all submissions within two weeks. If you haven't heard from us after this period, feel free to query.
